5/24/2011

Well this year have been a great and experiencing  year for me.I have learn so many thing in English class and other things i have not done. For example, my first time blogging was when i was in Sutherland class. Blogging have been really good for me because i have been writing blog and responding to other people post. I like the fact that i had the chance to share with people my ideas.
I really like English class because we read a lot of different and interesting book. Mr. Sutherland is very nice and sometimes he let us chose whatever book we want to read. After we are done reading he let us watch the movie and i really like that because i really get to see what i was reading and compare it to my imagination.
One of the book we read and i enjoyed the movie was . The Kite Runner he book is a very sad and touching book. When watching the movie it got so emotional to me to find out that when they use little boy as dancers was really true.
Another book that i enjoyed reading in Sutherland class was The house on Mango street. Reading that book was very funny because each vignettes had a theme that i like. Also i like the fact that after we read the book we had a chance to write our own vignettes. I had so many things in my head to write about that the project was not only easy and smooth but it was really fun.

Even though I'm not a lawyer and I'm the kind of person whose not interested in any law things but in Sutherland change a lot of that. In Sutherland class we debated about so many interesting subject. He show us how to be strong in our rebuttal and opening statement. Right now i will call my self a very strong debater then i was when i was in middle school.

Well those are just some of the stuff i enjoyed this year in Sutherland class. Sutherland is one of the coolest teacher i had and his class was the same. Even though i was hoping we did some romeo and Juliet play and we didn't i still enjoyed his class.

Explain one or two ways audience feedback helped me grow over the semester. This doesn't have to be stuff Sutherland said; If people wrote response posts about my writing, what did I learn from their reactions?
Well audience feed back i will say has really helped me. People that have read my blog tell me what I'm doing good and what i need to change. First of they help me change my grammar and give me ideas of what they think i should add into my blog that will make it better. Another thing they do that i like is no matter what my blog is about, when ever one of my friends leave a comment they will always put something positive even they have a negative. I like that because even though the negative comment i see bring me down but the positive always encourage me to change it.
One other time that the audience feedback really helped me was when i was doing my vignettes. Some of them told me that they like my rhythm i have in one of them and how the other one was very detailing. With those positive feedback i keep in my head that i should put more detail on my other vignettes.
How is the open-ended writing I do on my blog different from the more structured academic assignments I write?
My open writing is different because i don't write about serious things. Sometime i go online and find some funny blond joke and post it up. Sometime i just get a quote that i find interesting and i just write why i find it interesting and post it up. I really enjoyed free posting because then i can do whatever i want and don't have to sit on the computer and try to put some concrete detail because it is an assignment.
What have I learned from my struggles with writer's block? Why do I tend to get stuck? How do I tend to get unstuck? Notice any patterns?
Well i notice that every time  we have a quick write i don't have a lot to say that will take up the ten minuet that was given to us. When I'm stuck i don't sit there and look in the sky i just write why I'm stuck and how i don't have none-thing to say. Sometime i draw a picture that relates to the topic the class is on. Getting stuck is one of the big problem i have in the quick writes it seems like i that ten minuet is such a long time. It will be better if it was reduce down to five minuets. That will give us the chance to write what we have and also draw a picture with the little remaining time we have.
Where do I get my ideas for blog post topics? What inspires me to write?
Most of my ideas that i put on blogger is assign by the teacher for homework. But if it is not assign then it is a free post. Most of my free post like i said before are ideas i get of the Internet if not of the Internet it will be ether a poem i had in my mind.
Explain one or two ways my writing has improved (or not). Include a few examples from my posts over time, with analysis and links to the original posts, to illustrate how the improvement(s) happened.
My writing i will say has improved a lot. When i first went to English class it was very hard for me to write a thousand words but now that  a difference. I had a lot of grammar problem in most of my writing but with the audience feed back and comment i have slow down with too much grammar problem. Also all the activities that we have done in English class also made writing easy. For example the debate we did make me think a lot so every time i am writing an essay or any assignment  i do it like i am debating against someone to list my point and argument against their points.

table book review

Table Reading review
Bany:the last song i will agree with u Bany that it is a really good book and i also saw the movie. i really did like how Milly Cyrus character is so mean towards her dad because he was not there for her and her bother. But living with him though really made a difference. I like how that even though she did not like the fact of her moving in with her dad but with her falling in love and realizing that her dad didn't leave because he did care was a really good way to start the father and relationship. But overall this is a really good novel story

Andy:Wow Andy it seems like You really like this book to be reading it 10 times. Your book sounds int-resting but it seems like your blog post is full of stereo types. I think because of how u describe the girl you said because she wears the rape army jacket she cant be the one someone will pick on because she will start something back with you. I don't find a good to describe a girl being mean because of what she is wearing. But it seems like you are enjoying your book a lot and to me it also seem good but it just not the type of book i may read.

Saber:your book sounds very interesting and different from all the other book that i have read. To me it seems like some boys are in a gang but there gang is not really violence. Those group of boys called them self the greaser because they grease their hair backwards. I find it different that there good be such a group. Most of the time when i hear about a gang group it is actually bad and they have names like murder team that describe what they do. But your book still seem good i will love the chance to read it sometimes. just a quick question do your book have a movie

book review

I really like my book because I'm reading of a girl who want to be an actress just like me. She facing a lot of difficult situation in her life but with her good knowledge she is passing through them. One of the biggest challenge she just face was getting money so she can Bose her career up. Her best friend Shannel brought up a plane so they can steel some money from her strip club she work at. Ramie the main character the girl who want to be an actress knew it was a bad idea but she also knew that the life she was living was not going to take her no where she would rather steal the money.

Another challenge that Ramie faced was that every time she try to get in a filming industry the director always want to have sex with her. She meet this one film directory who live in Cali and she came to live with him. They use to sleep around even though the men was married and he had kids. She got tired of sleeping around with him every time he come around to ask for it. So she decide to get pregnant for him,but to sad when she was doing it she got caught.
Now Rami is living her life worrying about not get in trouble for the money she and her friend shannel stole from the strip club and also worrying if she will ever succeed her lifelong dream even though challenges comes towards her a lot.
what i like about this book is that i never get tired of reading it. I like the fact that I'm learning some tricks to use when it comes to the auditions. ramie one play a trick on this white girl because she knew the girl was the only challenge one at one of her auditions she went to.She lied that she seen the girl before and let the girl give out her info and then she got her number to make a prank call, the girl lost the chance of being at the audition because the prank rami made was to tell the girl that her aunt she live with was in the hospital and it was an emergency.

Rami really face a lot of bad time in her life and majority of them was sleeping with different kind of man that she don't know and doing other things she was never interested in doing or wanted to do.

if i had to chose a question on what to work on i will chose number one. Which asked me why the author Michelle Valentine wrote the book, what was her main point she was trying to put out to her readers.
In my opinion, she wrote this book for two reasons. One of the reasons to me is that she want to tell people like her readers that when you are trying to become someone in the future it wont be an easy ride. For example being an actress or something that is in the category of entertainment you will have to work really hard. you will do things that you will never think you will ever come across.
i also think the author is trying to let her reader know that being a black person that not rich and want to be successful is not easy. Not trying to say something wrong but most people know black women as people with bog booty and big boobs. So when a women like that is trying to be in something where some men think they can use them to get a little something they want.
For example in the book when remmi wanted to be in a video it didn't matter to nobody that when she was in the Luda Chris video she did good but all that matter was they wanted to get something they like before they give her something she want. her friend she went with who she thought was going to be there for her was not there when she needed her. What i meant about this was her friend was so selfish to her because both of them wanted the part and she did not care of doing what ever it takes to get it because she wanted to change her life. when she went in for the audition she did what the people told her to and she forgot about her friend. So the main point i will say is that when you are trying to be successful it wont be easy because you will face some challenges and family and friends who will betray you. So an advice is don't be so fast to trust have your eyes(as us the African people will say shine y'all eyes well, well) because it wont be easy.

post 4/13/11

well i went on the Dalies to try to look for the question and see which one of them i wanted to do but for some reason the questions were no where to be found.
Since i cant find it i will just give you some things that have went on in my book and what i like. I really like my book because I'm reading of a girl who want to be an actress just like me. peer review

well i was told that for homework we should do a post but i was also told that all we had to do was leave a comment on somebody review that we like. Amongst those two I'm not sure which one we are supposed to do so i am just going to do a blog post.
well i read four people blog and i felt like they had something i was interested in our their book is related in some way.The blog post that i read are Beatrice, Bany, and Aleah.here are the comment i posted on their page after i read it.Aleah book i will say is just like mine, and i agree with her when she said that this book was very interesting because book like what me and Aleah is reading tells a novel of what black women and black people struggle they go through. So i will just like to say that i believe that this is a good book.

Bany book i will say is very interesting. i watched the movie she was talking about and it was a wonderful movie when i and my family was watching it.

When i read Beatrice review i found out that her book has a lot of drama. one of them is married to Frankie and Frankie is cheating on his wife but his wife loves him so much that she not doing non-thing about it. This is really all i got from their review.

blog post 4/5/2011

Just to give you a brief heads up about my book. My book is about this girl name Remmi who’s dream is to become an actress. She face challenges of sleeping with different kind of man that she don't know and doing other things she was never interested in doing or want to do.

vignette review

Note to Mr. Sutherland, i try to link it to where i got the quote but for some reason it don't work on my computer.

I got this quote of Beatrice Zulu page and it about her talking about how she cant speak Krahn even though she live among people who speak Krahn
Krahn

When you take a cat and put it in a group of dogs, it won’t belong. My culture my language the one I can’t speak. I try all my best to understand some. Sometimes I want to speak it with my people, but I can’t. All my big brothers and sisters could speak it, everyone is proud of them. Me, nope I’m a big disgrace to my culture, but I don’t know how I lost it.
The theme i will say i got of Beatrice vignette when i was reading it is that when she dont know something she try her best to try to know. Its for example someone who live in a bad place like the ghetto and they want to get a better life, they will obviously strive to succeed by going to school and doing everything that is needed to be done.So i feel like even though Beatrice don't know Krahn but she loved among people who knows it she will try her best to learn.
This is a quote i got of Fremain page. I really like this quote because it talking about something he goes through in his life and he has encountered with.
East Oakland is where I stay. Home to three Latino gangs, Border Brothers (BBs), Nortenos (chaps, Nortes, X4) and Surenos (X3). Yea I Know about this. I’ve been around Nortes and Border Brothers before, but I’m not gang affiliated. Yea I know the gangs signs, but won’t throw em up where I stay at. I might get shot and killed.
His theme in this vignette i will say is being scared and also trying to survive. he talking about how he have been around all the gangs people but he know for fact if he want to stay alive he will bee sure never to throw none of those gang sigh up.

I used to be afraid of bees. I used to scream at the sight of them, run away, hide in the corner of my room until Mutti came to get me. When I was younger there were a lot of bees where I lived. They were innocent, of course. All bees are. A bee will not sting a person unless it is necessary- for when they sting a person, they die. All of their organs pool out and they fall to the ground, only to be stomped on
In Susan quote she is just like fermain. she afraid of what around her environment and try her best to survive from it.

helping mango street

In class while reading the mango street book i realize that Esperanza never like the fact that she lived on mango street. She hated that her family never lived in the house they dream about. The White house with long stairs. The one that they would have the own laundry mate. The one with big windows that she can sit and look through. The one with a fence to guard and protect them. Esperanza experience in living on mango street was very embarrassing for her because of the house she lived in. She felt like it was too small for her to even tell someone that her house. The embarrassing part was that when it rain water goes through it.

Living in the house was not the only thing that bother Esperanza when she was living on mango street. What embarrassed her was her feet and how her family cant afford what she want. One example that i have is that when she had a dance her mother bought her a beautiful new dress, but for some reason she didn't have enough money to buy her some new shoes so she had to wear the same old ones.

Here is a quote “one day i will pack my bags of books and paper. One day I will say goodbye to Mango. I am too strong for her to keep me here forever. One day i will go away. Friends and neighbors will say, what happened to that Esperanza? where did she go with all those books and paper? why did she march so far away? They will not know i have gone away to come back. For the ones i left behind. For the ones who cannot out.”
Her way of helping the people she left back on mango street is not by going back and getting each of them out and giving them money. But she was a young writer when she lived on mango street she decided to write her experience in a book that people will read and go help the people on mango street who can not get them self out. Or the ones who know how to come out but don't have a back up plane.

The house on mango street (should boys and girls be raised the same way)

According to the vignettes we read in the book the house on mango street, the readers can obviously tell that Cisneros obviously believes that parents do raise their teenage boys/girls differently.
Here are some of the Vignettes which you can tell.
“What the matter, Marin says, is for boys to see us and for us to see them (100)”
This quote is basically saying that Both boys and girls are raised not to look deeper into personality because the physical attraction and appearance are important.

Another quote that you can tell about her believes is in this quote. “Alicia whose mom died don't have nobody to make her lunch box tortillas(81) In this little quote that i got from Cisneros vignette is that she is saying that a girl child should not need someone to take care of her or the family when the mother is not available. The girls should know that is her responsibility to take the place of her mother when she not present.
Also another one that was notice that she was giving her opinion on how boys and girls should be raised is in the quote on page 81. The quote says “ Her father says to be this beautiful trouble she cant go without”.
In class we talk about this and what we came up with that Cisneros is trying to put out is that a family might treat a daughter in a family then they will treat the son. first of all because it easy for girl to bring shame to the family. For example most African i know threat the man son with more freedom because they have a theory that when a boy go out to do his business he wont come back pregnant. But for a girl child if she is given the same freedom as the boy do, for her to go outside to do her business. there is a 50-50 possibility that the girl will come back bring shame to the family
Looking at what cisneros think, i have a lot in common with her. I also feel like girls and boys should be raised up a very different way.But i disagree with the part that boys should be giving more freedom. It should be given to both gender no matter what the situation may be.

“In my head, it’s going down” Jason Derulo-In my head.

“In my head, it’s going down”
Jason Derulo-In my head.

1. Me myself and I
2.The bus stop
3.Bad girls club remix
4.The funny joke
5.Just bad
6.Hate talking on the phone
7.Nasty break up
8. height
9. Game time
10.soccer

Height

Everybody in my Family has a different height. My pop’s Height is like a tellitubie, chubby and small. And me, my height is the shortest. This cute boy from across the street told me that I'm short because i don't get enough sleep. Beatrice is short and skinny, like a pen. Princess is the youngest , but somehow the tallest. Not taller then my father and Beatrice, but taller then me.

But my mother height, My mother height is like the mixture of three of us,Princess,my father and me. She’s chubby like my pop’s and round as me. She is a few inch taller then princess. When you see her walking down the street, she will remind you of the three of us.

The funny joke

Sitting around in the living room. That is something my family and i do every weekend. uncles, Cousins,Sister, and I.

Adralyn, Beatrice, Princess, Patience, Sarah,Thomas, Uncle Sam, Constance. Constance is one of the funniest people, but he will never be funnier then me. i always say he will never be funnier then me because most of his joke he tell are not funny but my family laugh at them anyways. He funny like a clown, which are meant to be funny but are not. One day he was funny. He was funny because he said this joke.

“One dai la African boi wen tu sku and la teacher tei he to read. he tri to read in American and he say..the boy and the girl. but he say a very low in a American accent. And la teacher say Wat. so he repeat his self. and la teacher sta not understan he. so he got mad and staleah spiken in African. He say la boi and la gal.” That was the only day Constance was funny as
me because that was the joke he said that made me laugh.

Hate talking on the phone
Talking on the phone is something I hate to do. talking on the phone something I try not to do. Talking on the phone is something all my friends love to do. I decided to try it once because my girl crew wanted to have a talk. i had a thought in my head that my voice might sound shaky or my friends might make a weird face every time i say something they don't like. Most of the people i know like to hide behind closed doors but in the end it will come to light. so for me i like to keep it in the light. talking on the phone make me feel like my throat got dried out of words. I get small like an ants and my voice get muted out.Talking on the phone is something i hate to do. talking on the phone is something i try not to do. talking on the phone is something my friends love to do. talking on the phone is something i will never do.

Soccer

I remember one day I had a writing homework that was talking about soccer. So it reminded me of when i was in soccer camp. soccer is just run, run, run, run, back and forth, back and forth, relentlessly, with only a few seconds of relaxation when a goal is scored, and that happens 1 in 5 sometimes never. Soccer is full with embarrassment of red and yellow cards. Its full with breaks and snacks. When I'm playing soccer i feel like a car that has ran out of gas and cant move no more. also when i though back to soccer camp i thought of the nose that was made on the bus by me and my friends. We sounded like a bunch of hawks flying and making noise over a dead body. The early in the morning walks to the bus stop when we all are to sleepy to even move. When remember the time i was in soccer camp i remember my time of fun and my time of sleepiness.

The bad girls club remix

the bad girls club is a show my friends and i watch on TV. Walking from walmart was when the idea pop in my mind. That we should do a bad girls club remix. My cousin got so juiced about the idea that she started spitting words like she had a bad taste in her mouth. My dumb little sister who doesn't know what we were talking about thought we was making bad girls club because we was walking on the side walk of a heavy traffic. Worrying that i don't get hate by the cars in the traffic i was scared to spread my legs apart and walk. my cousin had to come and pull me for me to move. taking it back to the bad girls club idea she told me we should speak our pigean language and then put it on YouTube. The bad girls club show a show we watched on TV has became our show that we put on YouTube.

Me, myself and I

me myself and i is where i live. me myself and i is my soul. me myself and i is a person i talk to. me myself and i is who i trusted.I say me myself and i is who i trust because when i am with my self i have privacy like i was lost on a island by myself and what ever i say wont leak out to some one different. I is for i stand alone. I know on judgment day i will be standing by myself so i try not to depend on nobody and be independent. Me is for me and only me. it should be all about me. It all about me. It all about me. It all about me because a birdie told me that when i want to achieve something it should be all about me and no one else. When I'm in the world of me myself and i. You can never guess what the three important things are. Me, Myself and I.

HOUSE ON MANGO STREET BLOG POST

“ She looked out the window her whole life, the way so many women sit their sadness on an elbow”. (pg. 10)
“and then Rafaela, who is still young but getting old from leaning out the window so much, get locked indoors because her husband is afraid Rafaela will run away since she is to beautiful to look at”(pg 79)
“Do you wish your feet would one day keep walking and take you far away from mango street, for away and maybe your feet would stop in front of a house, a nice one with flowers and big Windows and steps for you to climb up two two upstairs to where a room is waiting for you.”(pg.81)
No speak English(pg 76)

The first two quotes to me is like the same. For example both women are being locked in doors, they are force to do something they don't want to do.The first women is being locked in because she is married to a man she don't want to be marry to.
Then the other girl is being locked up because her husband is afraid she might run away.
Its seem like all the mens are doing is locking their women up so they don't run away. And the women are still trying to get notice so they are looking out the window.
.
in the other quote on page 81 is somehow different from the other two. They are talking about house with big windows which is going to look like they are rich and they live somewhere beautiful. Living in a house with big window and when is open will make everybody on your block look at your house which is also looking at you.
the other last quote never really said anything about window. All it really talked about was how people don't know how to speak English.

The Color Purple Book Reflection

The color purple which is a epistolary novel by Alice Walker. The book is mostly about a young girl who is facing a lot of trouble in her life, but she can’t get herself from it because she don't know how to fight. All she knows how to do is survive.
Celie and Nettie are two sister who lived with their stepfather who they knew as their Pa. Celie was raped by Pa and became pregnant. Her mother died because her young daughter was pregnant and didn't know who the father was.
Nettie’s Celie sister was being looked at by Mr One of the men in the church. He went to her Pa to ask for her hand in marriage but Pa said no because he thought she was too young and pretty to get married to Mr. Pa decided to give Celie up because she was good with children and she already had some her self.
When Celie got married to Mr, she went through hell. She got beaten most of the time because she was a women and also because Mr never wanted to marry her. After spending some time with Mr, her sister Nettie beg to move in with her because Pa was starting to look at her. Mr said yes because he thought he was gonna get a chance with Nettie while she is in the house.
Nettie and Celie was happy to be together again because they were the only two people they have. Nettie had Celie and Celie had Nettie.
Nettie was still going to school when she was in the house. So when she went to school and came back she would teach Celie what she learned. with that Celie was able to read.
While Nettie was walking to school one day Mr followed her.He tried to force her to have sex but she refused. She was so scared that she started swinging her bag with her school book at him. After that she decided to run home.
When Mr got home He was angry that Nettie refused to have sex with him so he decided to throw her out. Separating the two sisters all they can do to stay in contact was to write.
Nettie left the house trying to find somewhere to live. She also wrote Celie to see if she was safe but Celie never reply. This was how both of the Sister was separated and were trying to unite again.

Reading the color purple had a lot of differences in the two sisters, Nettie and Celie. The difference between Celie and Nettie is their religion spirituality and their gender inequality. They both had a different way of dealing with it and also experiencing it.

Celie religion and beliefs is not really strong she likes keeping it to herself. For example,

“Dear Nettie I don't write to god no more I write to you. What happen to god? ast Shug. who that? I say.. What god do for me ..But deep in my heart I care about god” (pg 195).

This quote prove that Celie is not only scared of men but also what people might think of her. Celie say she don't care about god because she might get ask why she care about someone who have not be there for her. Another reason why Celie is keeping her thought to her self is because she cant fight for what she believes in. For example when Celie first moved into the house She let the kids run over her and let them do what they want because she couldn't fight.

“Don't let them run over you, Nettie say. You got to let them know who got the upper hand . They got it, I say. But she keep on, You got to fight. You got to fight. But i say i don't know how to fight. All I know how to do is stay alive” (pg 17)
Celie don't know how to stand up for herself. She cant fight for what she believes in. All she knows how to do is keep to her self, follow people direction and stay alive. To her staying alive is not getting in people way and not getting herself in trouble even though if she want to do what right or what she even believe in.
Nettie on the other hand is very different from her sister Celie in Religion beliefs. Nettie's stand for what she believes in and say what she want to say.She is a very strong women who don't think anybody is greater then her or even control her.Everybody is equal in some way. Nettie and Celie was force to stop their education by their Pa, but with Nettie strong beliefs that she could make she never listen to him.and she spoke her mind. Later on in the year Nettie join a missionary group.

“ Corrina and Samuel and the children are part of a group of people called missionaries, of the American and African missionary society. They have ministered to Indian out west and are ministering to the poor in this town”
Nettie and the family she stay with went to Africa to minister to people during that time Nettie minister unto the little children of African and even open up a school. She did what she wanted to do which was to tell her beliefs for god to people.

Celie and Nettie’s gender Inequality are also very different. When Celie was growing up the situation she went through made her believe that guys are better.
“He beat me today cause he say i winked at a boy in church. I may have have got something in my eyes but i didn't wink. I don't even look at men's. That the truth. I look at women, tho, cause I'm not scared of them”(pg 5)
Celie feared guys and thought they were better because of how Pa treated her.He raped her and got her pregnant.Nobody ever listen to her part of the story because everybody listen to the men of the house. She also thought guy was better because they take total control. For example when ever a guy want to get married they can just take the girl no matter how young they are or even if they want it or not.

Nettie even though had people who experiences the harsh part of gender inequality,Nettie never did. Nettie unlike Celie believes that with education everybody can be equal even if they are a men or women or even black and white.

Colin said:
I have chosen to debate that wiki leaks is bad for our country. Every now and then, new secret documents are released to the public that could cause people to lose trust in their government

I disagree with Colin because i believe that wiki leaks is great help to the people of a government.
For example, in class Mr. Sutherland show us on wiki leaks that in Afghanistan little boys were used as prostitutes to dance for older man as strippers.
Wikileaks, in a recent document-dump, has stirred up evidence that as part of the war effort in Afghanistan, almost two billion US tax dollars have been spent contracting with a private company which, among other scandals, helped throw a party for Afghan police recruits where young boys were pimped out for sex. This is called bacha bazi, and is apparently a widespread practice, although how common it is nobody knows. (If the police are partaking, it's surely difficult to find out.) to read more: http://j1t.blogspot.com/2010/12/kite-runner-news-too-tragic.html

We should embrace the site as an expression of the fundamental freedom that is at the core of our Bill of Rights. In the bill of right it said we have the freedom of speech so every citizen should have the right to say what they want to say or post what they want to post.

The US has been going in the wrong direction for years by classifying millions of documents as secrets. Wikileaks and other media which report these so called secrets will embarrass people yes. Wikileaks and other media will make leaders uncomfortable yes. But embarrassment and discomfort are small prices to pay for a healthier democracy. http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/11/30-8
This government need to really be healthy. we are going through a lot of wars, and debt. keeping those things a secret for example our situation that we are in right now wont be safe for us the citizens.

Collin you essay and quote you got were really good. If i had agree with your opinion there will be nothing to fix. You give me the information of where you got your quote from. Your point that you was trying to give out was clear. good job.

the color purple

What do Celie's letters to God tell you so far about 1. Her character traits and 2. Her beliefs about and relationship with God? Use quotes to answer both parts of this question.

“It’s worse than that, I think. If I was buried, I wouldn’t ave to work. But I just say, never mine, never mine, long as I can spell G-O-D I got somebody along.”

Celie’s letters tells me that she doesn't have no one to talk to.(not trying to spoil the story) Nettie Celie sister is not with her no more and she never used to talk to her dad, so while she staying with MR_ a man she never wanted to marry she don't have no one to talk to.
To me Celie is a very quite person who is scared to stand up or fight for her self.

“I keep hoping he fine somebody to marry. I see him looking at my little sister. She scared. But I say I’ll take care of you. with God help.”

“She good with children, Pa say, rattling his paper open more. Never heard her say a word to narry one of them. Just give em everything they ast for. is the only problem.”
She care about other people and not herself. For example when MR came to ask her sister Nettie for her hand I'm marriage. she was scared for nothing bad to happen to her sister so she wanted to take her place.

Her beliefs about and relationship with God?
Her belief about god is that he is there and is watching over her even though she don't have no one right now. She write to him when she has something on her heart. She writes to him when she is in need. her relationship with god is that he is the one who give her strength to survive since she cant fight. she believe that one day god will bring she and her family back together. she belief that god is watching over her sister, her and her children her daddy send away. she also belief that one day god will take revenge for her, to all the people that gives her pain and love to see her cry.

Debate post

The question i chose to debate about is Should teens be allowed to vote?

In my opinion, I would say no teens should not have the right to vote..Because we are young and not mature enough to take upon a big responsibility.
Teen should not be able to vote because they might not be interested in politics but since they have to vote they will just chose anybody.
Teen should not be allowed to vote because they might do to just look cool. when you are given the right o vote that means you are responsible enough. But when you are doing it just to be cool then that not responsible.

“No. I was immature as a teen. I wasn't well-versed in politics or national affairs or social issues. Most teens aren't. Similarly, they're not old enough or experienced enough to have solidified real positions on important issues beyond what their parents have taught them. This is something you can only see in retrospect, as an adult” (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071219150549AAJEdSw)

“They don't understand the issues and most of them wouldn't take the time to get out and hear the candidates.”(Asylum 92) Speaking from a teenager i agree with this quote the kids will not want to take time out of having fun to listening to politician speak.

“You live in a democracy and that means that you get a say in who runs your country, and by way of this privilege you also get a say about how your country is run”
Teen still get the right at some point for them to chose who will run the country. but that will be when they are mature enough.

“A government by the people, for the people just can't work without the people. This is a simple fact. Like a car without an engine, or a computer without a hard drive, a democracy without voters is just a shell and has no power. While it is easy to say "one vote doesn't make a difference" the reality is that every vote counts”. (http://teenadvice.about.com/od/teenlifefaqsandqas/a/youthvote2004a.htm)
A government for the people will always be for the people. But when we feel like given it to everybody and it not taking seriously it will be mess up. When it mess up the people will no longer have a government that will be for them.

response post

THE RESPONSE POST
I got this great quote of my sister Beatrice Zulu page. I tried to link it but for some reason that was not working on my computer. But if you will still like to see what I'm talking about the name of her blog is call (IN MY SHOE).

“Everyone think I should be happy, because I’m the only child of my parents.”
Her saying the world think in that sentience will make me hypothesis that she try to say that not true. If that is what she saying that i agree with her.
Because you are the only child doesn't make you happy. i mean some people who feel like if there parents have a lot of children, they wont have the attention they had, or they wont get the money they used to get because now they have to share. That obviously can be true. But that should not be a reason why you wish to be that only kid. Sometime you may feel lonely and need some one to talk too. having a sibling and help you with that.

One thing i will let to put out is when you have a sibling and you guys ask your parents to go somewhere like a party. The chances of you go will be very fear, because your parent will think about the possibility and they will understand that you are with your sibling. Which means you guys will watch out for each other and give good advice before doing something stupid.
having a sibling can also be helpful because you can never tell your future.
I'm not wishing nobody bad luck by saying this, but how about in the future you are not that successful as you think you would end up.Your parents are dead so you cant run home for help. But you have a sibling who became very successful and can help you with your problem. That one of the good reasons why no matter how happy you are or how many things you get from your parents, you should never be happy that you are the only child in your family.

Elite Colleges

“Elite colleges”
the writer is Martha O’ O'Connell. The main point of the response: understand that is not “where you go” that matter. I agree with her because i went to a small school that really don't teach a lot because of the student. the student take all the teacher time to stop them from talking and we don't learn non thing. But when i were applying for high schools on my mind i thought i wont get into a good high school. then to my surprise i made it into a small and great school like ASTI.

for me to go back to her point of it not where you go it what you do. When i went to my middle school it was hard for me to learn. first of all i were still learning English because i am from Africa. when the student are taking all the teacher time by joking around, it take time away from learning. even though all that was happening, i plane that in my mind i will do all my work, study for test, and make sure i ask the teacher for help when i needed it. So doing that i got good grades.

what i did was all my work even though i were at a small school but i ended up in a great school that really helping me.

“How do selective institutions help their students succeed? Let me count the ways: First, graduation rates rise with college selectivity, even among equally qualified students. “

“Third, even among equally qualified students, those who go to the most elite colleges have a much better chance of attending graduate and professional school. Again, among those who score 1200 or better out of a possible 1600 on the SAT, about 40 percent of those who go to the most selective colleges go on to graduate or professional school compared with only a quarter of equally qualified students who attend the least selective four-year colleges.”

In my opinion i don't think it right for money to have the power. That means for us who don't have money, but we try our best just to make it into a elite college might not make it. The reason is because all the kids who father or family has the money will be the one accepted because they wont need to ask for scholarship. Then the money maker are the one who will pay there fees on time.

those are my opinions and that what i think of the strong persuasive point and the weak persuasive point.
